Christofer Fjellner MEP (EPP-ED, Sweden) co-organised an event on responsible gaming.

The conference took place on Thursday 17 April at 9.30-16.45 hours in the room ASP 5E2 of the European Parliament. Online gaming and betting have become popular forms of entertainment for millions of players in EU and all around the world. The European industry is well placed in this growing market: developing new technologies, innovating and employing a dynamic workforce.

The Responsible Gaming Day will initiate the first broadly based EU political discussion on responsible gaming. The event will take a look at what has already been achieved in the field of responsible gaming in order to ensure that consumers can play in a safe, reliable and secure online environment. It will also provide an opportunity to address future challenges and discuss how cooperation between all the stakeholders involved can be enhanced, with a particular focus on underage gaming, advertising and problem gaming.

Press Release:
17/04/2008 Make social responsibility in gaming more than an excuse for protectionism. Christofer Fjellner MEP
