Spas in Europe – health and wellness for women
The event takes place on Tuesday 1 April from 9:00 to 12:30 in room ASP 1G2. Mrs Záborská MEP cooperates closely with the European Spas Association, in order to support an informal collegial network within the European Parliament for colleagues with an interest in quality of health issues in the EU. The conference is to mark and endorse the work on common European quality criteria in regards to women. Women, as with men, are economically and socially independent agents in today’s European society. However, there remain certain disparities. In particular, issues related to health, age, social fulfilment etc. persist in destabilising a social balance established on fairness. One of the rich traditions of Europe is of course the use of the natural healing resources of the natural spas. Contemporary science has confirmed the utility of these traditional means of healing. What is the position of the spa today, and what is their expected place to be considering the expected demographic developments? In mind of the above points, can we be confident of the equal access of women to the benefits of these naturally occurring phenomena? These issues will be the main focus of the conference. European Spas are at the forefront of securing the necessary common high standards of quality, and so the endorsement of the European Spas Quality Criteria is a good opportunity to question how we can support and enhance the highest health of our citizens. |
