Religion and Politics in the European Union – New Challenges, New Responsibilities

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Centre for European Studies is organising a conference on Religion and Politics in the European Union. Several EPP-ED Members will participate in the event.

The panel discussion on Christianity, Islam and the changing role of Interfaith dialogue will be moderated by Mario Mauro MEP (EPP-ED, Italy), Vice-President of the European Parliament, responsible for relations with churches and religious communities. The panel discussion Religion, Politics and the Reform Treaty will be moderated by Alojz Peterle MEP (EPP-ED, Slovenia), EPP-ED Group coordinator for dialoque with the Orthodox Church. Among the participants will be Wilfried Martens, President of the Centre for European Studies, Erna Hennicot-Schoepges MEP (EPP-ED, Luxembourg) and Ján Figel´, European Commissioner for Education, Training, and Culture.

The meeting takes place on Monday 3 March from 3.30pm to 7.00pm. Simultaneous English-German interpretation will be provided.
