Debate on European Agencies

John Bowis MEP (UK) is participating in a debate hosted by Friends of Europe and the European Environmental Agency on European agencies. "The European Agencies: Who needs them?" takes place on Monday 29th January.

Issues for discussion include the scope of political supervision of agencies, the limits of their independence and the advantages, if any, they bring to the EU project. Mr Bowis will be joined in the debate by Jacqueline McGlade, Coordinator of the network of the European Agencies and Executive Director of the European Environmental Agency, and Kristian Schmidt, Deputy Head of Cabinet to EU Commissioner Siim Kallas.

The heads of all 25 European agencies will also participate.
