On Tuesday 24 June, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs organised a hearing on 10 years of the Economic and Monetary Union and future challenges. One of the issues for discussion was the international role of the Euro.

Speakers included Theodor Waigel, former German Minister of Finance, Yves-Thibault de Silguy, former Commissioner on Economic and Monetary Affairs, and Lorenzo Bini Smaghi from the European Central Bank, as well as co-rapporteur Werner Langen MEP (Germany).
