Avril DOYLE MEP
EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament
Irish MEP Avril Doyle is hosting an EPP-ED Hearing on Animal Health Strategy and Vaccine Technologies on Wednesday 13 February in the European Parliament in Brussels.

The hearing will look at how EU policies can respond to the threat of infectious animal diseases.

Speakers representing the European Institutions, the animal health sector and the scientific and farming communities, will present European and global trends in the growing threat from infectious animal diseases. They will also focus on the potential impacts on European agriculture and how European animal health policy will respond.

As a fundamental element of any response is vaccination, leading scientists will present the latest cutting-edge developments in vaccine production technology, as solutions to meet the goals of the Community Animal Health Strategy.

The hearing will gather views from food and feed chain stakeholders and the scientific community on the possible impact of the Community Animal Health Strategy and ways of maximising its impact and successfully implementing its recommendations.

Discussions will focus on the optimum balance among animal health concerns, trade issues and economic growth, all key elements to the success of the strategy.

Date: Wednesday 13 February 2008
Time: 15h00 - 18h00
