The EPP-ED Group

The 785 Members of the European Parliament form political groups, not national delegations. With its 288 MEPs, the EPP-ED Group is the largest in the European Parliament.

The Members of the EPP-ED Group participate actively to the plenary sessions of the European Parliament which take place for one week a month in Strasbourg, as well as the so-called 'mini-sessions' held in the Chamber in Brussels.

Each MEP from the EPP-ED Group sits on one of the 20 parliamentary committees and is a substitute member of a second committee. These committees conduct in-depth debates into all of the reports drawn up by Parliament before their final adoption in plenary.

EPP-ED Group meetings: In accordance with the EPP-ED Group's Rules of Procedure, the bodies of the Group (the Group Assembly, Presidency, Bureau and working groups) meet before each plenary session of the European Parliament to prepare for the work scheduled on the Parliament agenda.

All reports and amendments thereto, together with other items on the agenda (oral questions, motions for resolution and so forth), are considered first of all by a specialized EPP-ED working group, and then by the Group's Plenary Assembly, which establishes the Group's final position.

In addition to these meetings, which usually take place in Brussels and Strasbourg, the Group meets twice a year at other venues in the European Union.
