New MEPs from Bulgaria and Romania become Members of the EPP-ED Group. The UDF, DSB and DP from Bulgaria and PD, DP, UDMR and DFDR from Romania join the EPP-ED Group.

The EPP-ED Group is composed of 277 Members.

Number of Vice-Chairmen enlarged to nine. The Members of the Czech SNK-ED
become Members of the Group. The Czech ODS, Portuguese Partido Popular
and Italian Partito Pensionati join the ED part of EPP-ED Group.
The EPP-ED Group is composed of 268 Members.

EPP-ED Study Days in Budapest, Hungary. Declaration on European Elections adopted.

10-13 June 2004
Sixth direct elections to the European Parliament.
Largest elections with 450 millions citizens in 25 Member States of the European Union.
Overall turnout was 45.5 per cent. The EPP-ED Group wins again being, with 278 Members, the largest political Group in the European Parliament.
It is also the only Group composed of deputies from all 25 Member States and the only Group with more than 200 Members.
