Dialogue with Islam

The EPP-ED Working Group on Islam, chaired by EPP-ED Group Vice-Chairman Vito Bonsignore MEP, is meeting on Tuesday 18 September to exchange views on issues concerning Islam in Europe and to debate whether there is a common European approach to be taken.

Uwe Schünemann, Minister of Home Affairs and Sport of Lower Saxony, will give a keynote address on Islam in Europe and on the Dialogue between cultures: the experience of Lower Saxony. As part of the integration of the Muslim population, Lower Saxony seeks to give Islam the same position as other religions and has therefore, in cooperation with all religious Muslim representatives in Lower Saxony, developed and launched the model of 'Islam lessons' at school for primary children.
