EPP Workers' Group met in Portugal The EPP Workers' Group met in Porto, Portugal on 23-24 June. The focus of the meeting was on the issues of the ageing population and the labour market. The problems deriving from the fast-ageing of the European population throughout the EU were discussed by EPP-ED MEPs Csaba Öry (Hungary, President of the Workers' Group), José Silva Peneda (Portugal), Philip Bushill-Matthews (United Kingdom), Ria Oomen-Ruijten (The Netherlands) and Thomas Mann (Germany), politicians (Luís Marques Mendes, Chairman of the Portuguese PSD Party), academics and representatives of the labour organisations from several EU countries.

On the occasion of the Italian administrative elections, Mario Mantovani MEP was re-elected Major of Arconate, a town close to Milan. This is his second consecutive mandate for which he obtained 68% of the votes cast.
