Brussels - On Friday 6 November 1998 the annual congress of the "Union for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises" of the European People´s Party in the European Parliament will take place. The theme of the congress is: "The Euro: Challenges and Opportunities".

Jacques Santer, President of the European Commission and Wilfried Martens, former Prime Minister of Belgium and currently President of the European People´s Party, will open the afternoon session. Speakers from several SME sectors will address concrete problems/opportunities with the introduction of the EURO. The proposed fast change-over will be discussed and other issues such as double pricing, information campaigns and the logistical aspects of the introduction of the EURO and the collection of the old coins.

The Union for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises is an organization for cooperation between employer organisations which belong to a member party of the European People´s Party (EPP) from the Member States of the European Union.
