EPP Bureau meets in Galicia (Spain) with German and Italian Finance Ministers from 27 to 29 August 1997

The Bureau of the EPP Group will hold a meeting in Santiago de Compostela (Spain), from 27 to 29 August 1997, to discuss developments in Economic and Monetary Union and upcoming European issues. Proceedings will be opened by EPP Group President Mr. Wilfried Martens.

Among those invited to address the Bureau are Spanish Finance Minster Mr. Rodrigo Rato, the German Secretary of State for Finance Mr. Jürgen Stark, Vice president of the Bundesbank Board Mr Peter Schmidhuber, Italian Secretary of State for Finance Mr. Roberto PINZA and European Commissioner Yves Thibault de Silguy.

The EPP Bureau will also develop its strategy for upcoming events in EU, such as Enlargement and the ratification of the Treaty of Amsterdam. Speakers in this debate will include the President of the European Parliament, Mr. José María Gil-Robles, European Commissioner, Marcelino Oreja, and Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal's Social Democratic Party (PSD).
