EPP-ED Group honours German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering MEP

Brussels, 27th June 2007

At an extraordinary EPP-ED Group event on Wednesday 27th June in Brussels, German Chancellor and President-in-Office of the European Council Angela Merkel has been awarded the Robert Schuman Medal, and European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering MEP (Germany) has been given the title 'Honorary President of the EPP-ED Group'.

The Schuman medal is an honour presented to people who have made outstanding contributions to European integration.
