Euromed Study Day

MEPs Jose Salafranca (Spain) and Vito Bonsignore (Italy) hosted an EPP-ED Study Day on the future of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation on Thursday 7 December in the European Parliament. Hans-Gert Poettering MEP (Germany), Chairman of the EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament, opened proceedings with a welcome address. Themes for discussion included: Euro-Mediterranean political challenges, the role of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA) in Euromed relations, culture, democracy and human rights: from Barcelona to the Neighbourhood Policy, and Economic challenges and perspectives of Euro-Mediterranean Relations.
