István PÁLFI

Berettyóújfalu, 23.9.1966 - Berettyóújfalu, 15.7.2006

Member of the European Parliament and former parliamentarian, István PÁLFI, has died, following a long illness, at the age of 39.

As a member of the Committee on Budgetary Control and the Committee on Regional Development, István Pálfi worked mainly on the development of Europe's poorer regions, including their opportunities for cross-border cooperation. As a representative of Hungary's eastern Great Plains region, he worked both for his own region and for rural Europe in general.

His expertise and political conduct quickly won him wide respect within the EPP-ED Group.

His untimely death is a huge loss for the Hungarian EPP-ED Delegation, the EPP-ED Group and the European Parliament.

István Pálfi leaves behind a wife and two children, aged 3 and 3 months.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday 19 July at 11.00 hrs in the Téglaparti cemetery, Berettyóújfalu, Hungary.
