Study Day on Cuba

The EPP-ED and ALDE Groups in the European Parliament, in co-operation with the International Committee for Democracy in Cuba, organised a study and reflexion day on the situation in the central American island.

João de Deus Pinheiro MEP, Vice-Chairman of the EPP-ED Group introduced the debate. Among the speakers and participants representing the Group were Alejo Vidal-Quadras MEP, Vice-President of the EP, José Ignacio Salafranca MEP, EPP-ED Group Coordinator in the AFET Committee, José Ribeiro e Castro MEP, EPP-ED Group Coordinator in the Human Rights Subcommittee, Jana Hybášková MEP, Edward McMillan-Scott MEP and Camiel Eurlings MEP.

Among other guests were Cyril Svoboda, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and Pavol Hrušovský, President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.
