Resolution on the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections in Serbia
The European People's Party
Noting that the progress of reforms in Serbia has been hindered by the unstable political environment and the ineffectiveness of the governing coalition during the past six months.
Underlying that there are still in Serbia extreme political forces, whose strengthening could further obstruct political stability.
Recognising the importance of the results of the 28th December parliamentary elections in Serbia for the normalisation politics, the continuation of reforms and for drafting a new Constitution.
Expresses its support for its partners in the country, namely the Democratic Party of Serbia, the G-17+ and the Christian Democratic Party of Serbia, as the political forces of moderation, stable reform, and a European future for Serbia.
Affirms that the centre-right forces in Serbia, as in the rest of Europe, can satisfy the willingness of the Serbian people to move towards a better European future.
Believes that the aforementioned political parties are the most credible option for the marginalisation of the extremist political forces.
