EPP Enlarged Summit 19 June 2003 Halkidiki (Greece) Several European Prime Ministers and Deputy Premiers, along with European Commissioners close to the EPP, as well as opposition and party leaders from all over Europe, gather in Halkidiki on June 19 for the EPP Enlarged Summit in preparation of the next day's EU Council in Thessaloniki (Greece). The draft European Constitution proposed by the Convention will be the main issue that will discuss the European Council participants. The meeting will take place in the Conference Centre Sani Beach Hotel, Kassandra Halkidiki, from 14.30 to 18.30h. EPP President Wilfried MARTENS said: "Important decisions should be taken in the EU Council in Greece and an EPP consensus is essential for it. We are working on one of the most crucial achievements of Europe, its Constitution". Prime Ministers from the new Member States of the EU such as Mikulá DZURINDA (Slovakia), Edward FENECH-ADAMI (Malta), and Juhan PARTS (Estonia) will participate in this EPP Enlarged Summit as well as presidents of political parties who are EPP associate members. MARTENS has invited as his personal guests Valéry GISCARD D'ESTAING, chairman of the European Convention, Alain JUPPÉ, chairman of the UMP (France) and Vojislav KOSTUNICA, president of DSS (Serbia), as well as the Commissioners Michel BARNIER and Elmar BROK, chairman of the EPP Convention Group.
