The leaders of the EPP-ED Parliamentary Groups in national parliaments met in Brussels on 21-22 May 2001 with the Members of the Presidency and Bureau of the EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament to debate the preparations for the Göteborg European Council and the Post-Nice process.

This initiative, to involve national parliamentarians in the preparations for European Councils and in the debate on the post-Nice process, has been undertaken by Hans-Gert Poettering, EPP-ED Group Chairman, Mr Per Unckel, Chair of the Moderata Group in the Swedish Parliament and Mr Göran Hägglund, Chair of the Kristdemokraterna Group in the Swedish Parliament.
