12/05/2000: Prime Ministers from two applicant countries to address EPP-ED Group on 16/05/2000

16 May 2000 at 20.00 hours in STRASBOURG  

Mr Mart LAAR, Prime Minister of Estonia, Mr Andrius KUBILIUS, Prime Minister of Lithuania will address the EPP-ED Group meeting next Tuesday, 16th of May, at 20.00 hours in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Room S 1.4.

Background:

Mr Hans-Gert Poettering, the Chairman of the EPP-ED Group has invited several Prime Ministers of the Central and Eastern European Countries to address their views, especially those on enlargement, to the Group. The Prime Minister of Poland, Mr Jerzy Buzek already addressed a Group meeting in April and now three Prime Ministers are doing the same in Strasbourg. Thus the EPP-ED Group is continuing its active role in the debate on the important enlargement issue in order the form a better picture of the current political and economic situation in these countries and to exchange views directly with the Heads of Governments of the applicant countries.
