LATEST EPP-ED ACTIVITIES

At its September ordinary committee meeting (8-9 September 2008, PHS 4B001), the Legal Affairs Committee is discussing several reports and opinions by the EPP-ED members: report by Hans-Peter Mayer (Germany) on the Convention on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters, report by Piia-Noora Kauppi (Finland) on Publication and translation obligations of certain types of companies, report by Klaus-Heiner Lehne (Germany) on Statute for a European private company and and on the Cross-border transfer of the registered offices of limited companies (14th Company Law Directive), and the report by Antonio López-Istúriz White (Spain) on Legal protection of adults: cross-border implications.

Among others, the committee will vote the opinion on Investigations conducted by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) (draftsman Giuseppe Gargani MEP (Italy)), the opinion on Applicable law in matrimonial matters (draftsman Carlo Casini (Italy)), on one of the comitology alignment reports (rapporteur József Szájer MEP (Hungary)) and on the opinion on Challenges to collective agreements in the EU (draftsman Tadeusz Zwiefka MEP (Poland)).

The Legal Affairs Committee will also vote its opinion on recast proposal on on Industrial emissions (shadow rapporteur Hans-Peter Mayer (Germany)) - 2007/0286(COD).

A public hearing on the Implementation of Directive 2006/43/EC on statutory audits of annual accounts and consolidated accounts (8th directive of Company Law) organised upon the initiative of Mr Doorn, will take place On 9 September 2008. At the same day, Ms Rachida Dati, French Minister of Justice will attend the Legal Affairs Committee to inform it about the priorities of the French Presidency.
