Human rights and democracy are an objective of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU and the EPP-ED Group is engaged consistently and actively in this area. It encourages a policy which aims to guarantee the respect of human rights, religious freedom and democracy building in the world, because the Group recognises that human rights and democracy are universal, fundamental and indivisible. Therefore, the Group takes initiatives to put this issue on the agenda inside and outside the European Parliament, and considers it a permanent priority to defend all freedoms linked to the rule of law, democracy and the promotion of human rights.
