FIFA President on investment in young football players
Sepp Blatter, President of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), met the Culture Committee on Monday 6th October, on the initiative of Ivo Belet MEP, author of a report on the future of professional football in Europe.
The discussion with Blatter focussed on the topic of investing in young football players - the '6+5' rule vs the 'homegrown' rule. The Members also focussed on the important role of sport in Europe, such as autonomy in sport, the problem of transfer of players, protection of minors, and racism.
