4th Joint Parliamentary Meeting on the Lisbon Strategy

On 11 and 12 February the Fourth Joint Parliamentary Meeting on the Lisbon Strategy will take place, aimed at enhancing the dialogue between parliaments on the implementation and future of the Lisbon Strategy.

The two day-meeting kicks off with a preparatory meeting between Members of the National Parliaments and MEPs of the EPP political family, led by Marianne Thyssen MEP (Belgium), Vice-Chairwoman of the EPP-ED Group. This is followed by a plenary meeting co-chaired by Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou MEP (Greece), First Vice-President of the European Parliament and the President of the Slovenian National Assembly.

Klaus-Heiner Lehne MEP (Germany) will present the resolution on the Lisbon Strategy for which he is co-rapporteur. Next on the agenda are three parallel working groups addressing various aspects of the Lisbon Strategy. Malcolm Harbour MEP (United Kingdom) will chair the WG on Internal Market and Strategies. José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, will attend the second day of the joint parliamentary meeting.
