The communication is based on the recommendations of the CARS 21* High Level Group, which developed proposals on future policy options to enhance the global competitiveness of the EU automotive industry. The European automotive industry currently faces tough international competition, fast technological change, as well as growing demands in terms of the environment and road safety.
