EU legislation on plant protection products (PPPs), more commonly known as pesticides, is being revised. On Monday 22nd October the European Parliament will debate a report by Christa Klass MEP (Germany). The use of hazardous substances is to be reduced by 50 percent by 2013. CMR (cancerogene, mutigenous and reprotoxic) substances will disappear from the market.

The main objectives of the report are:
  • to reduce health hazards
  • to limit the use of plant protecting products
  • and to make the whole system more transparent
