Budget 2008

 The Committee on Budgets will vote on amendments to sections of the 2008 budget from 1st to 3rd October.

The Committee, chaired by Reimer Böge MEP, will hold its marathon vote on 1644 amendments to the EU budget 2008. EPP-ED Coordinator Salvador Garriga MEP, together with the EPP-ED spokesperson Richard Ashworth MEP, will seek to ensure that the EPP-ED's priorities - like programmes important for economic growth and employment - are adequately reflected in next year's EU budget.
Financing projects with added European value like Galileo and the European Institute of Technology, as well as the need to respond to the additional financial requirements for Kosovo and Palestine, are some of the important issues to be followed. Ville Itälä MEP is the rapporteur for the budgets of other EU institutions, including the European Parliament's, and will push for real expense-based budgets.
