The Budget Committee adopted on Tuesday evening the EU budget for 2007 at second reading, setting the amount of payment appropriations at € 115.5 billion euros, which represents an increase of almost € 3.5 billion in relation to the 2006 budget. The rapporteur James Elles MEP and the EPP-ED Group have successfully implemented the budget adoption strategy based on three main strands: setting clear political priorities, ensuring qualitative value for money and preparing for the EU budget review planned for 2008.
