Theme of the day of 8 November 2006 Xth Dialogue between the Orthodox Churches and the EPP-ED Group in Bratislava
The EPP-ED Group will open the 10th dialogue between the Orthodox Churches and the EPP-ED Group in Bratislava (Slovakia) on 9 November. The conference lasts for two days. It will focus on the interaction between politics and religion in South-East Europe, the role which religious communities can play in bringing countries in the West Balkans into the European Mosaic. The dialogue will be thematically divided into three sessions:
The following speakers will give keynote addresses to be followed by a debate on integrating the people of South-East Europe into the European family: Vojislav Kostunica, Prime Minister of Serbia, Ivo Sanader, Prime Minister of Croatia, Konstantinos Karamanlis, Prime Minister of Greece, EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament Chairman Hans-Gert Poettering MEP. Other keynote speakers include: H.E. Mr Mikuláš Dzurinda, H.E. Antonios Milososki, H.E. Cardinal Josip Bozanic of Zagreb, H.E. Mr Béla Marko, Bishop Irinej of Batchka, EPP-ED Vice-Chairman Jaime Mayor-Oreja MEP and European Commissioner Ján Figel'. The Dialogue will take place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel - Conference Centre, Hodžovo námestie 2, 81625 Bratislava, Slovakia. All sessions will be open to the press.
