Alzheimer’s Disease - European Public Health Challenge

Press Conference on "Alzheimer's disease: a public health problem - where do we stand 100 years after it was first identified?"
Astrid Lulling MEP (EPP-ED, Luxembourg), Quaestor of the European Parliament, and Jean Georges, Executive Director of "Alzheimer Europe"
Astrid Lulling MEP (EPP-ED, Luxembourg) and members of "Alzheimer Europe" are hosting a debate: "Alzheimer’s Disease - European Public Health Challenge - Where are we 100 years on?" in the European Parliament on Tuesday 7 November.

The debate will focus not only on the health issue, but also on the social problems connected with the rapid growth of Alzheimer´s, which was diagnosed for the first time exactly 100 years ago.

The Alzheimer Europe organisation will present a declaration that encompasses the areas in which their members agree that urgent action is required: EU priorities, research, access to treatment and care, ethical and legal issues. The declaration has been endorsed by the French Minister for Social Affairs, Philippe Bas.

The debate will take place in the Members Salon of the European Parliament and will be followed by a press conference in the Press centre of the EP at 14.30.
