Daniel VARELA SUANZES-CARPEGNA MEP
EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament
The traditional links between Europe and South America are to be further strengthened by approval of the EU-Mercosur Association Agreement. The report of Daniel Varela Suanzes-Carpegna MEP (EPP-ED, Spain) on this treaty will be debated in the European Parliament today.

The 25 EU Member states and 5 Merocosur Member states will be establishing the largest interregional free-trade area in the world if the Agreement is ratified by both sides. The rapporteur of the European Parliament is confident that the relaunch of high-level trade relations outside of the troubled WTO negotiations is possible. It is hoped that agreement can be reached for the better future of the nations of Latin America and Europe.
