Transatlantic joint education programmes

Marie-Hélène DESCAMPS MEP
EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament
The Culture and Education Committee of the European Parliament will today vote on two reports from the French MEP Marie-Hélène Descamps. The reports deal with the issue of joint educational programmes between Europe and the USA and Canada (the Agreement between the European Community and the United States of America renewing the co-operation programme in the field of higher education and vocational education and training and the Agreement between the European Community and the government of Canada establishing a framework for co-operation in the fields of higher education, training and youth).

The author calls in her reports for renewal and further support of joint education programmes between the European and American Union and the Canadian Federation. The student exchanges in various EU programmes help to develop mutual tolerance and understanding between European nations. The same development is needed also in the transatlantic area.
